Day 4--Privatera's

Today I was given this:

Isn't it beautiful? A charming old Italian woman gave it to me while I was shopping at her roadside farm stand/greenhouse. Last year I met Mrs. Privatera while shopping for delicious fruits and vegetables. She has known Andrew's family for years and loves Andrew's mom. I am piggybacking on that love. When I went to her store last summer, she was excited about my pregnancy. She offered to share pizza lunches with me if I happened to be there around lunchtime and always encouraged the growth of my pregnant belly

Now that we live here, Ben and I make a trip there at least once, if not twice a week for locally grown produce. Mrs. P. is always willing to hold my little guy while I shop, has someone carry my purchases to the car, encourages me to try vegetables that I've never heard of and sometimes sends me home with a beautiful treat.

In a week she will be closing her doors for the season, but I am already looking forward to next summer's juicy tomatoes, dripping peaches, crisp apples, enormous peppers, fragrant onions, celery so fresh it smells up the car and of course, my chats with such a wonderful lady.
